As a mom, I have to admit our way is not always the “right way”!

Sometimes, as moms we’re only mimicking what we saw our moms and grandma’s do and say and their way wasn’t always the “right way” either..

I can admit I used to be a “shut up and listen” type of mom probably because it’s what I was taught.. As the years went by I learned different ways to handle my children, I had longer and better talks with my children.. I was open with my children, I gave them the right to be open with me and tell me when I was wrong about something (respectfully)..

Sometimes we don’t know the damage or anxiety we could potentially be causing our children because we’re not giving them the opportunity to speak openly or be themselves..

I’m not afraid to admit when I’m wrong, and I’m also not afraid to say my parents and all these grandparents were not “always right”... By no means am I saying I am the perfect mom or I have this mom stuff figured ALL THE WAY OUT!! No, that’s not the case! All I’m saying is I’m a learner, I’m open to learning new things and new ways to become better period! I do not know everything when it comes to motherhood. However, I’ve been in the delivery more than a couple times and has had my Mommin degree for almost 18 years, so I’d say my opinions can be pretty valid..

We all have parenting ways that works for us and our households, but when your children choose to talk to you please don’t tell them to shut up and listen!!
